Vanuatu - A little known gem

Vanuatu is small relatively quite south pacific island nation.  For this reason many people haven't experienced what the sleepy islands have to offer.  The best way to see what the country has to offer is with a cruise.
Cascade Falls

Most cruises stop in the capital of Port Vila first.  Even upon entering the harbor you a greeted with crustal blue waters and forests in the background up in the hills.  Upon leaving the ship you first come across the local markets down by the harbor's edge where they sell everything from fresh fruit to handmade arts and crafts.  This is a great way to see the local culture which is quite diverse since it was originally a French colony.

After that one of the most popular activities is the Cascade water falls about a 10 minute drive from Port Vila.  On the drive you pass through many local villages and are greeted with friendly locals.  When you reach the bottom of the creek it is another 10 minute walk up through the bush passing various lookouts that look out over Port Vila and neighboring islands making for perfect photo opportunities.  The falls themselves are a series of waterfalls and water holes that you can explore with jump rocks and climbing through trees to the top of water falls.

Other Activities in Port Villa include kayaking, whitewater rafting, Zip lining and even dive an underwater post office just off the shore.
Mystery Island

Once you leave Port Vila another beautiful place to see is Mystery Island.  This is an uninhabited island that Cruise ships often visit on the island there isn't much other that snorkeling and lying around sun baking but what a place to do it.  the island is a 10 minute walker around surrounded by reefs creating huge natural lagoons for swimming while you watch waves break off the reef in the distance.

Vanuatu is also a great place for simple resort get away with many resorts to cater to anything from families to honeymooners all with there own unique place within the country away from the main hubs.  One of the most famous resorts is Hideaway which boasts it's of marine santurary.

With so much to do an see Vanuatu is sure to have a little gem for you so go check it out!
