Oman – Best of both worlds

So? What on earth is an Oman? It is an interesting Middle Eastern country that probably destroys any stereotype about the Middle East. You must note, though, that the geography of Oman varies significantly, in one part of the country it is quite mountainous. In another, it is all composed of rain forests.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to talk about everything that Oman has (I mean I haven't been many places there), but I can talk about my experiences there. I went there for a four day trip to the capital city of Muscat as well as some nearby cities.

OK, so this isn't in downtown Muscat itself, but it is in the Muscat governate. This was the view from my hotel room balcony, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is a very quite area, with not much noise. The drive is about 45 minutes from downtown Muscat, and the scenery varies greatly, from high rise buildings to mountains.

This meant that we had lots of off-roading opportunities!
This mean that we could go to wadis and other places that would normally be inaccessible to a normal car.

Ok, so what about the city then?
Well, unfortunately, I couldn't actually take any pictures because it was too dark and they were too blurry as we drove past. However, I can say that it was very nice...the traffic, for the most part wasn't bad, and people adhere to driving rules and etiquette very nicely. We didn't spend much time in the city, as we'd been to many, many cities before. We did pass by a night market as a some shopping malls, along with the standard assortment of buildings...

PS. Did you know that they have trash cans on the highway in case someone needs one? I've never seen that anywhere else! What a lovely idea!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this...this is Anwar, over and out :)
